Have you ever felt cold standing in the shade? Or suddenly feel warm and relaxed in the sun? Have you ever wondered why? Let me answer for you. Infrared rays from the sun are absorbed by your skin and clothes. This causes your body to heat up.
An infrared heater works in a similar way to the sun. Heat is absorbed by you and objects in the room. To produce infrared light, a series of coils and reflectors are used to direct the light produced outwards.
Infrared is part of the electromagnetic spectrum and is a form of radiated heat – the most basic form of heat we know. It is 100% natural and is the same kind of heat we emit and absorb ourselves on a daily basis. The warmth of the sun on our skin, the soothing glow of an open fire and the feeling of warmth when we sit close to other people are all examples of infrared heat at work.
Advantages of Using an Infrared Electric Heater
- Instant Heat: Infrared heaters start emitting infrared light as soon as they are turned on. They take no time at all to heat up.
- They are silent: Infrared Heaters do not have a fan because they use light to give off heat. They are therefore much quieter than fan heaters.
- Environmentally Friendly: Infrared heaters are a clean heat source. They do not leave any waste in the environment. They do not use fossil fuels.
- Durable : Infrared heating tubes have a lifespan of 20,000 hours more than quartz tubes in other electric stoves.
- It is healthy: Produces healthier heat by maintaining oxygen and humidity levels in the air.
Disadvantages of Using an Infrared Electric Heater
- Emit too much light: Infrared heaters emit a neon orange light. This light may not bother some people, but if you are sensitive to bright color and light while sleeping, these heaters may not be sensitive for your bedroom.
- Limited Temperature Distribution: Infrared heaters only heat objects in the direct line of heat distribution. For these reasons they are not ideal in places like large halls where individuals move around.
- When it turns off, the heat goes away: Infrared heaters do not heat the air. And because only objects hit by infrared light absorb heat, the heat is lost when the heater is turned off.
Where Are Infrared Electric Heaters Used?
It can be used everywhere indoors and outdoors. It is one of the ideal heating solutions for domestic and commercial areas.
They can be used especially in areas such as warehouses, workshops, paint shops, cafeterias, etc. They overcome the problems of convection heaters, which have made heating these areas almost impossible in the past.
