Heating Installation Winter Preparation Recommendations

With winter approaching, take a look at our blog post for comfortable and efficient heating. We have prepared recommendations for your heating installation.

Thermal insulation for Heating Installation

Thermal insulations are made by sheathing insulation materials on the building to prevent heat exchange of buildings. The purpose of thermal insulation is to reduce the heat exchange of buildings.

It reduces the heat loss of the building in the winter season, reduces the entry of hot air from outside in the summer season, thus reducing the energy consumption of heating and cooling systems all year round. The biggest factor in increasing efficiency and preventing heat loss is thermal insulation.

What are the Benefits of Thermal Insulation for Heating Installations?

  • Insulations made according to the regulations provide energy savings of 30% to 60% in your heating and cooling systems. Heat loss is prevented in winter and hot air inflow is prevented in summer.
  • It reduces condensation in homes and prevents mold and fungi caused by condensation.

Boiler Maintenance for Heating Installation

It is important to maintain the boilers annually, before winter. Dust formed in the fans and limescale formed in the heat exchangers of combi boilers with use adversely affects the heating installation performance of the product.

Your boiler works harder to provide the required heat. As the unmaintained boiler works harder, its service life decreases and energy consumption increases. It is an inefficient use with high energy consumption. In fact, all these precautions are exactly the same for central heating systems and floor heaters.

Heating System and Honeycomb Cleaning

If there are areas that do not heat up in your honeycombs, if some parts of the lower or upper part do not heat up, you should have a honeycomb cleaning. Honeycombs are one of the most important parts of your heating system that emit heat to the environment.

Incomplete or inadequately functioning honeycombs increase your energy consumption and reduce the heating efficiency of your system. When we cannot heat up, we increase the temperature of the water in the installation from the boiler, our energy consumption increases and the efficiency of our heating system decreases.

Honeycomb cleaning provides 25% to 30% energy efficiency in the heating installation.

Honeycomb cleaning both provides more comfortable heating and extends the life of your boiler. We extend the life of your boiler and the circulation pumps inside it.

Using Room Thermostat for Heating Installation

Room thermostats are devices that measure the temperature of the room they are in and send on-off commands to the boilers they are connected to. Room thermostats send a run command to the boiler until the room reaches the desired temperature, and send a stop command when the room reaches the desired temperature.

In this way, both a comfortable use of the heating installation and energy savings are made by preventing the house from overheating. The highest efficiency in heating systems is obtained when a room thermostat is installed.

On/Off Room Thermostats

On/Off room thermostats send a command to the boiler to work or not according to the room temperature. The boiler temperature of the boiler is set to the most efficient temperature and the boiler continues to operate until the room temperature reaches the desired temperature.

When the room reaches the desired temperature, the boiler switches off regardless of the boiler temperature.

Example on/off room thermostat;

Modulating Room Thermostats

Modulating thermostats only work with combi boilers that support modulation, the difference compared to on/off thermostats is that when the room reaches or approaches the desired temperature, instead of turning off the heating completely, it reduces the heating power of the boiler and prevents heat loss in on/off.

When the room temperature drops below the desired temperature, the boiler will operate gradually according to the heat requirement instead of operating at full power. Their efficiency is higher than on/off thermostats.

Room thermostat use in heating installation

Simply set your room thermostat to the temperature you want your room to be.

Example use;

It is important to set the temperature setting of the boiler to the most efficient temperature for savings. Suppose we set the boiler to 55 as the efficient temperature.

When we set the room thermostat to 23.5 degrees for comfortable use, the thermostat sends a work command to the boiler until the room reaches 23.5 degrees.

The boiler continues to keep the water in the installation at 55 degrees, when the room temperature reaches 23.5, the thermostat sends a shutdown command to the boiler regardless of the temperature of the water in the installation.

When the room temperature drops below 23.5 degrees, the boiler is commanded to restart and the boiler restarts.

Programmable thermostats allow you to program weekly, daily and hourly programs, lowering the temperature at night and increasing it during the day.

Recommended Room Thermostat Temperature Values

22 degrees is the recommended room temperature during the day, in homes with children this value can be increased to 23-23.5 degrees. At night, you can choose between 20-21 degrees.

Heating Installation Thermostatic Valve Usage

Thermostatic valve is a mechanical valve that measures the room temperature independent of the room thermostat and automatically closes and opens the water to the heating pad according to the room temperature according to the level value you set. They provide savings even when used without a room thermostat.

Working system;

  • The thermostatic valve is adjusted according to the desired room temperature,
  • When the room reaches the desired temperature, the valve shuts off the water to the honeycomb,
  • Since the boiler heats less water by circulating less water in the system, it consumes less energy,
  • When the room temperature drops, the valve opens the water, allowing hot water to flow to the honeycomb and the honeycomb to give heat to the environment again.

I hope we were able to provide you with information for your heating installation that will meet your needs and make your winter comfortable.
