What is Domestic Package Booster?
Domestic package booster are devices used to increase the pressure and output speed of water. Living with low water pressure is a big nuisance.
If you have ever tried to take a shower under a drop of water and had to walk in circles just to get wet, then you have realized the extent of the inconvenience.

Low water pressure can be a problem when you need a lot of water for simple tasks such as washing or brushing your teeth. Package booster pumps can be preferred as a solution.
What is a Booster Pump?
A booster pump increases low water pressure and flow. It provides the extra support needed to bring your water pressure to the desired level.
The package booster pump provides pressure to move water from a storage tank through an entire home or commercial facility.
What Causes Low Water Pressure?
- Gravity: Gravity speeds up or slows down the flow of water. The higher the height to which the water must be delivered, the lower the water pressure. Not to mention, a gallon of water weighs more than 8 pounds.
- If water goes uphill or up several storeys, gravity wants to send it right back down. Buildings lower than water sources may not face the same problem. Skyscrapers, apartment buildings and multi-storey homes and businesses have great trouble moving water uphill.
- Distance from the water source: The distance from the water source and the size of the water pipes affect the water pressure. If your home or business is at the end of a water supply line, the water flow may be low by the time it reaches you. And if your water pipes are too small, a smaller amount of water will flow through your fixtures.
- Low city water pressure: Your home may be below the water supply line, your plumbing pipes may be clean and yet the water pressure may not be sufficient. Sometimes low water flow is caused by low-pressure water from your local water utility.
- Additional water systems: Additional water purification systems or other water fixtures in your home bring fresh water, but can lower your water pressure. Adding a booster pump will restore your water pressure.
- Plumbing problems: If low water pressure is caused by gravity, transportation or additional systems, a water pressure booster can solve the problem. Other times, however, there may be plumbing problems. Check your plumbing before you buy a water pressure booster. Pipes may be blocked or the pressure reducing valve may need to be adjusted.
How Do Domestic Package Boosters Work?
Package booster boosters increase the water pressure and in most cases increase the flow rate. Booster pumps work like fans. A fan has blades that spin around to increase air movement, and a booster pump has an impeller that increases water flow and pressure in the same way.
Package Boosters are automatic water pumps that work according to pressure. The water supplied from the mains, tank or well is pressurized by means of the pump and tank and works in such a way that it opens when you turn on the selection and closes when you turn it off.
What are the Components of Package Boosters?
Regardless of the manufacturer and vendor, the components of most booster pumps are the same.
- Pump
- Hydromat or expansion tank
Booster pumps have an impeller that moves water in from the inlet and out from the outlet. The motor keeps the impellers turning. Package booster pumps differ in the way they suck in and push out water. Some water pumps use a rotating impeller.
Hydromatic Package Boosters
Hydromatic booster tanks, which are the most preferred recently, are similar to expansion tanks in terms of operation.
Hydromats are installed at the outlet of the pump by adjusting the bottom pressure. These hydromats are very easy to maintain and repair. Attach it to the pump and it’s ready to go.
Moreover, hydromats are also protected against running without water because they have a check valve in themselves, but every time you turn on the tap, the pump will also start working. Therefore, metal fatigue may start to appear in the pump at an early age.
Package Boosters with Expansion Tank
Unlike hydromatic booster pumps, tank package booster pumps are attached to the pump as a set via tank, flex hose, manometer and 5-way.
The gas pressure of the expansion tank of tanked booster tanks should be checked every 6 months. Pressure adjustment should be checked regularly. Otherwise the pump will not give efficiency.
This model package booster does not have protection against running without water. If it is desired to prevent running without water, it can be automated by using float switch.
The biggest reason why booster tanks are preferred is that the tank acts as a partial tank. For example, you have a package booster with a 50 liter tank, you opened the fountain. The pump does not work.
First, it transmits water from its own tank. When the water in the tank runs out, it will start working. This makes the pump work less.
On the other hand, expansion tanks are used in booster groups used in high-rise buildings, hospitals, schools, factories, etc. since hydromat cannot be installed.

Does the booster increase pressure and flow rate?
A booster pump increases the water pressure, allowing water to flow more quickly through the plumbing. But there is a pump curve to keep in mind: As the pressure required to move the water increases, the flow rate decreases.
Think of putting your thumb on a garden hose. As you do, the water emerges at a higher pressure, but the flow rate is restricted because of your thumb.
A package booster pump works in the same way. It delivers the most water at the highest flow rate under low pressure. If water leaves the pump without any restrictions, it moves at a higher flow rate.
However, when a pump is installed in the plumbing of the house or garden, when the water has to move uphill, the flow rate is slower and the pressure from the pump is higher.
Do I Need a Package Booster?
If you have low water pressure that is not caused by a leak or if you need to increase the water pressure for a specific application, a booster is a good option.
Questions to ask before buying a Package Booster:
What is my water flow rate?
- How much water do I need? Think about how much water your home or workplace uses. Calculate how many liters of water you consume per minute, taking into account all fixtures. Learn how to calculate the flow rate.
- Is the water source above or below the pump? Does your water have to go uphill or up several floors?
- How much pressure do I need? Many people prefer high water pressure when showering, but pressure that is too high can destroy plumbing, fixtures and appliances. Most homes have a pressure reducing valve where the water line enters the home to maintain the water pressure. To find the ideal pressure, contact us at Kampa Whatsapp for support!
Which booster you need depends on how much water you use, the desired pressure and the location of your water supply. For example, if you have a large house, you may need a booster that can provide pressure to the second or third floor.
Applications such as reverse osmosis systems with low supply pressure require much more pressure. Click here to review domestic booster systems.

How to Choose the Right Booster?
Ask these questions to find the right booster:
- How many floors is your house and how many fountains?
- Or if it is for garden irrigation, how many square meters and how will it be irrigated?
- How far are you from your water source?
- Where will you get the water?
Boosters are selected according to certain values just like pumps. The amount of water consumption per hour, head, pressure, etc. The booster of the pump suitable for these values should be used.
Package booster pumps are delivered to you installed. Simply connect the pump inlet to the water supply and the pump outlet to the installation.

If we summarize briefly, the package booster is used to pressurize water in places where water comes unpressurized. They can be used in different areas from domestic, industrial use to agricultural irrigation.
