Cartridge Filter Selection for Household Water Treatment

Cartridge filter has the advantage of low cost, easy installation, no electricity and no waste water generation.

However, the disadvantages of cartridge filters are that eventually the sediment will clog the pores of the cartridge membrane, causing a pressure drop.

The cartridge filters are easy to change and some pleated cartridges can be cleaned and reused. There are many health benefits of a home water purifier on your mains water.

Pumped water purifier or pump-free water purifier We recommend that you choose the appropriate filter system, taking into account the areas of use of the filter selection.

Filter system and filter types differ in water purifier models. You can provide the filter need with cartridge type filters.

Cartridge filters for sediment removal are available for sale in many sizes and types but are generally divided into two types: Filtration Filter and Filter Cartridge.

What is a Water Filtration Filter?

Filtration with water filtration filters takes place only on the surface of the filter. Polypropylene, nylon or Teflon etc. sheets are pleated to provide a high filtration area.

Contaminants are trapped on the surface of the layer and eventually form a layer that will help filter clean water through itself.

As the pressure drop increases, the filter cartridge can be removed from the filter housing and washed. An advantage of surface filters is that they can be washed and the cartridge reused.

Water Filtration filters can be defined as being used as coarse pre-filters, usually in the 50-100 micron range.

Due to their pore size and structure, they can also be used in submicron applications as they provide finer and more consistent filtration.

Compared to the Filter Cartridge, water filtration filters will have a much higher filtration area to compensate for the lack of depth. Filtration rates can be greater than with a normal 10 x 2.5″ cartridge or higher.

What is a Cartridge Filter?

Filter Cartridges filter particles too small to be filtered by water filtration filters. Smaller particles underneath water filtration filters are seen as cartridges such as coiled rope, compacted sediment filter.

They work best when various particle sizes are filtered. Filter Cartridges remove more sediment and, in general, hold more sediment without losing pressure than a surface filter cartridge.

Which Type of Filter Should I Choose?

For the filters you will use in your home or business, you must first determine your needs. You can do this through trial and error. See also our previous article on water purification methods.

Generally, we recommend pleated surface filters in the 30 to 50 micron range for prefilters.

For very fine sediments in the 1 to 5 micron range, we recommend dual grade sediment filters. Dual grade sediment filters start at 50 on the outside and filter down to 5 microns on the inside, which is very effective on a wide range of sediment particles.

Dual grade sediment filter cartridges remove 2.3 times the amount of sediment that standard twisted or rope-wound filters remove.
