What is a Motopump? How Does a Motor Pump Work?

What is a motopump? How does a motor pump work? First of all, thank you for following us and reading our articles, you can contact us for other information you want to learn, I will add it to the end of the article… So let’s get started;

Motopomp Nedir?

In order to talk about the motopump, first of all, what are motor and pump? How about examining them 🙂

Motor ?

Motopomp çeşitleri

A motor is an electromagnetic device that converts energy into mechanical energy in various forms. Of course, the principle of operation of each motor is different.

However, there is one basic element that does not change; Motors are divided into two types, we can divide them into AC and DC motors.

In other words, AC motors use alternating current while DC motors use direct current (you can keep this information in mind based on their abbreviations).

If we give an example from normal life; the motor is everywhere in our daily life, in the hair dryer, shaver, dishwasher, microwave, etc. devices.

In general, I think we have grasped what the motor side means for the motopump, so it is time for the pumps…

Pump?

The pump is used to raise or transport liquids using suction or pressure and works by using a mechanism such as a rotary or reciprocating for this.

It moves the liquid manually or with the help of various energy sources such as wind breeze, electricity, motors, etc. The other leg of the motopump is the pump.

When we look at the market, there is a wide range of applications from wells to water pumps, from aquariums to pond filters, from automobiles to medical etc. sectors.

Of course, there are different mechanical pumps for each of these. Let’s examine their types;

Pump Types ;

In general, we can classify them in two main types: dynamic(centrifugal) pumps and (PD), i.e. positive displacement pumps. Separately, we can diversify them within themselves as follows;

1-Dynamic Pump

Dinamik Pompa Santrifüj

It is also known as a centrifugal pump. This is because it uses centrifugal force to increase the velocity in the transported liquid, converting it into pressure with more speed.

When the pressure increases, the kinetic energy decreases and the pressure current will use this difference to guide the fluid through the system. These pumps are among the most widely used pumps for transferring low viscosity (resistance to viscosity) liquids at high flow rates.

2-Positive Discharge Pump

Pozitif Deşarj Pompa

PD pumps contain pistons, diaphragms for reciprocating the reciprocating motion of the pistons to otherwise move the fluid through the engine pump.

The classification of these pumps can be carried out according to the level at which they can move the liquid by trapping it in a certain volume.

Differences Between Pump and Motor?

Both pumps and motors are mechanical devices used for various engineering tasks. Both devices play an important role in various engineering fields such as mechanical, electrical, construction, robotics, etc.

It also serves various purposes. We can say that the motopump is a functional combination of these together.

While the pump is a mechanical device that converts mechanical torque into hydraulic energy, the motor tries to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. Regarding the motopump, so I think we have more or less created the basis in our heads without getting into too much sentence confusion 🙂

How Does a Motopump Work?

Motor Pompası Nasıl Çalışır Motopomp

As you have already understood from what I have explained, a motopump is a mechanical device used to move liquids/gases from one place to another using mechanical movement.

The working principle of the water pump is to convert the energy of the motor from mechanical to liquid flow.
